Xage Security Announces $1.5 Million Contract with the U.S. Navy to Accelerate Zero Trust Initiatives

By October 9, 2024 No Comments

Xage Security Government (Xage) has been awarded a $1.5 million Sequential Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract by the United States Navy. This partnership is a significant step toward securing critical naval battle networks and accelerating the Navy’s adoption of zero trust strategies in line with the Department of Defense (DOD) CIO’s 2027 Zero Trust Target Strategy.

Supporting the Navy’s Mission Through Collaboration

Xage is honored to work alongside three key Navy agencies as part of the contract: U.S. Navy’s Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (PEO C4I), Tactical Shore & Expeditionary Integration program office (PMW 790) and Program Executive Office Digital and Enterprise Services (PEO Digital). PMW 790 is responsible for ensuring mission success, providing resilient, adaptable, and interoperable capabilities to the Navy and Marine Corps. Meanwhile, PEO Digital drives innovation within the Navy and Marine Corps, ensuring that technological advancements are secure and mission-ready.

This collaboration embodies the critical intersection of innovation and mission security. PMW 790 is exploring how Xage’s zero trust capabilities can secure tactical edge environments, while PEO Digital focuses on implementing advanced security practices for the rapid deployment of these innovations. Xage is securing where innovation meets the mission—ensuring that the Navy’s most advanced technologies are protected as they support warfighter success.

Fast Track to Meeting the DOD CIO Zero Trust Mandate

Xage was first sponsored by United States Space Force Space Systems Command (USSF SSC) to assess how it could support the DOD CIO’s zero trust requirements. The Navy was able to leverage Xage’s existing SBIR from USSF SSC to accelerate the implementation of Zero Trust activities in support of the DOD Zero Trust Mandate, and to promote collaboration between Navy, USSF SSC, and Xage. This will help fast track Zero Trust adoption for the Navy.

In parallel, the Navy is also working with the US Air Force to leverage the accreditation of Xage’s software on the Cloud One DevSecOps (DSO) platform. The Navy’s selection of Xage is a positive signal for other military branches, as it shows leveraging reciprocity can help accelerate the path toward fulfilling the DOD CIO’s Zero Trust mandate by exploring Xage as a solution.

Zero Trust for OSA and CJADC-2

Xage’s solutions will support the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) DevSecOps (DSO) Overmatch Software Armory (OSA) to deliver the Navy’s contribution to the Combined Joint All Domain Command & Control (CJADC-2).

The Overmatch Software Armory (OSA) is the Navy’s software development factory—a hub where engineers develop cutting-edge applications for naval missions. The OSA enables rapid development and deployment of mission-critical software, making it an essential contributor to CJADC-2, a cross-military platform that allows different Armed Forces branches to share vital information. As CJADC-2 contains classified information, securing this platform is paramount, and Xage is being tested as a key zero trust solution to protect these critical environments.

Xage’s Role in Fulfilling the DOD’s Zero Trust Mandate

Xage’s robust zero trust capabilities in microsegmentation, data integrity, least privilege access, and multi-factor authentication (MFA) align directly with the DOD CIO’s Zero Trust Mandate requirements.

The Navy is testing Xage’s solutions as a key technology in meeting these zero trust requirements in their environments. The following capabilities put Xage in a strong position to address unique Navy use cases:

DDIL Environments: In particular, Xage stands out for its ability to enforce zero trust policies in denied, disrupted, intermittent, and limited impact (DDIL) environments. This capability is especially crucial, as it ensures that warfighters can securely access mission-critical information even when disconnected from the central network.

Xage enables zero trust access and protection to any asset, even when disconnected from the central network. This ensures the continuous enforcement of identity and access controls, a crucial feature for maintaining security in unpredictable environments.

Agentless Deployment: Xage’s agentless approach means the Navy can implement zero trust without installing agents on endpoints or replacing existing infrastructure. This not only simplifies management, but also reduces the attack surface and extends the lifespan of legacy mission-critical assets.

Secure Data Exchange: Xage’s Zero Trust Data Exchange (ZTDE) capability allows the Navy to securely share data with coalition and allied partners, providing just-in-time and just-enough access that can be easily revoked. All user activity is tracked, ensuring comprehensive security and operational visibility.Xage is proud to partner with the Navy on this contract and looks forward to continuing our mission of delivering the highest level of cybersecurity to protect the nation’s critical infrastructure and government organizations.
